For a long time, our development team has worked hard to rebuild our Weava Chrome extension, which has now been released.

Due to technical debt and changing technologies, Weava has had to undergo considerable redevelopment to make the tool future-proof and with the right foundation to build additional improvements for you in the future. This has essentially meant that we have had to rebuild the software from scratch.

Finally, we have now released this re-developed version of Weava that will help us usher into the future with improved and additional features on the horizon for you and our 700,000+ users.

However, considering the scale of our update, and the amount of users Weava has, the newly released version has included some interruptions and performance-related issues, for which we humbly apologize for the inconvenience caused. The team is currently working tirelessly to have all these issues resolved as quickly as possible.

With our new foundation, Weava will finally be able to issue more frequent product updates and improvements to the software. And there will therefore also be more frequent updates here from the team of our work and plans, as well as more interactions with our users here on our Feature Request Portal in the time ahead.

We humbly apologize again for the inconvenience caused. But please rest assured that these current issues are a result of our hard work and aspiration to make Weava better for you, not that we are neglecting the software.

Should you currently face issues with Weava, please take note of the following troubleshooting tips, and if your problems persist, contact our support.

Best,
Weava Team

While we are still working on numerous large and fairly complex back-end matters related to APIs, our servers and more in order to ensure we have the best foundation to build new features upon, we have once again squeezed in some time to fix some bugs and introduce some front- and back-end enhancements to our users:

New features:

Overall we have made numerous updates and improvements to the storage limit functionality which was soft-launched in our previous update.

  • Implemented function for limiting PDF uploads for free users, and fixed a bug where uploading PDF through drag and drop did not update storage.
  • Storage now updating after uploading PDF (initially this was only set to update on a daily basis).
  • Other improvements made to the computation and rendering of the storage limit.

Improvements:

  • Implemented new design for "Upgrade to Premium" in Chrome extension sidebar.
  • Updated Facebook authentications and revised Facebook permissions.
  • Created a refresh feature for the card details to render properly on the account details pop-up.
  • Implemented new design for "You have discovered a Premium feature" pop-up.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug that arose from the previous update where users could no longer add a new folder on the Weava dashboard.
  • Updated "back" buttons on "Invoices" and on "Update Payment Details" pages to go to the new account details page.
  • Fixed issue where "Upgrade to Premium" due to almost full storage was overriding account details settings dialog.
  • Fixed a bug where a new user who signed up via email encountered a "loading forever" on the account details pop-up.
  • Fixed a bug where clicking "Open In Weava Dashboard" button on invitation email took users to our website, instead of the dashboard.
  • Fixed a bug where if the user clicked on the notification icon (bell icon), the "Invitation to Collaborate" pop up would load continuously.
  • Fixed a bug where folder items were not properly displayed when the window size was not maximized.

While we are still working on numerous large and fairly complex back-end matters related to APIs, our servers and more in order to ensure we have the best foundation to build new features upon, we have now squeezed in some time to introduce some front-end enhancements to our users:

New features:

  • We have released a new "Account Settings" menu that contains user storage details, shortcuts to relevant links such as customer support, feature request portal and Weava keyboard shortcuts. These can be accessed by clicking the Weava cogwheel or the "Account Details" text in the bottom left corner in the Weava sidebar and on the Weava dashboard.
  • We have introduced an Account Page that has all your main user details in one place, including navigation options for cancellation, deletion, invoices and more. These can be accessed by clicking "Account Details" on the new "Account Settings" menu.
  • Introduced unique user referral ID to all our users, which new users can insert during signup in the registration form. Such referrals will award the user with Weava Premium. You can read more about this here. You can see your unique referral ID on the "Account Details" page.
  • We have enabled users to finally see their storage amount (currently it will only update on a daily basis, but we will work on future improvements to this).

Bug fixes

  • To avoid confusion and ensure greater consistency we have updated the labelling info text for the color labels.
  • Similarly, we have updated various tooltips to have consistent information and phrases across Weava.
  • Fixed a typo on the Weava dashboard where the number of highlights selected was written as "#selected" as opposed to "# selected" (space between number and text).

October 20, 2020 — Referral and Coupon Code Fixes — Web App 1.50.6-1.50.7

We are currently working on numerous large API-related and other backend projects, as we outlined in weava.upvoty.com/b/feature-requests/brief-note-from-weava-team-on-current-progress-focus and therefore there will be some time until we implement our next front-end design and feature improvements.

In this process, as we were breaking up some of our monolithic code into proper microservice structures, some users may have encountered that some of our general pages on our website (www.weavatools.com) were down. That is now taken care of because our website is now properly split from the rest of our code and now is a proper stand-alone website. It is not nearly in a pristine condition that we aspire for it to be - but at least now it functions properly and can be properly maintained by our marketing team. This will, among others, also ensure that we are publishing a lot more articles and information on the website in the time ahead.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed bugs with our referral code - which gave users Weava Premium for free for up to 76 years (we sure hope they still use Weava in 2096!). While we're always keen to help as many as possible and give some of our advocates a special referral code that they can share with their followers etc., 76 years was a bit excessive from the 1-6 month referral codes that we intend to share.
  • Fixed various other smaller bugs.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug that caused the coupon code to not work when using Google translate. ¿Qué?
  • Fixed a bug that caused the user, if inserting the coupon code and then quickly clicking "proceed" to not have the new price discount price reflected in their actual payment. Instead, users are now unable to proceed until the coupon code validation has been fully processed.

Lots of "invisible" improvements

We've undertaken a lot of back-end improvements, addressing legacy code, fixing inefficiencies and a lot more, including also migrating our web application to Angular 8.

Improvements

Introducing user storage computation

  • Internal use first, soon to be public.

Email unsubscribe feature & omit unnecessary emails

  • Users have the proper option to opt-out from emails via unsubscribe link. Premium users will no longer receive "upgrade" emails.

Deleting a collaborative folder now gives a warning:

  • "You are about to delete a shared folder. Are you sure?"

Other improvements:

    Bug fixes

    • Fixed cyan highlight color from the Chrome extension turning purple in the Weava web app dashboard.
    • Fixes to 3rd party authentication.
    • Fixed iFrame issue on the Weava dashboard not rendering websites properly.
    • The extension toolbar (i.e., on the Weava sidebar) now is arranged the same order as the toolbar on the Weava dashboard.
    • Decline a folder invitation now has a proper decline button as opposed to ellipses.
    • Fixed a "forever loading" issue and introduced buttons to help clear cache and properly re-load the Chrome extension if loading issue were to occur.
