I'd like to be able to toggle the highlight bar where I see all of my docs/highlights without having to open my pdf in a new page.

We fully understand your demand of toggling highlight window, it would indeed be easier to organise this way, especially when dealing with multiple files simultaneously.
Your petition on this feature is incredibly valuable as we prioritise development based on user feedback. We'll be keeping a close eye on how many users will vote for this specific request, and it could very well make its way into future updates.
