Hi Kevin, thanks for the comment! Would you mind elaborating on what exactly you would want to achieve with such an API? E.g., what purpose and/or problems would it solve for you? Learning more would be very helpful, thanks!
Hey Jon, I'd personally use the API to add highlights to my Readwise account. Most highlighters are supported by Readwise or support Readwise (like Pocket, Instapaper, Worldbrain Memex, Hypothes.is).
I used Weava 2 years back, but switched later because I needed Readwise integration. Readwise has an API too, many services use it to add Readwise sync to their app.
Hi Shaca, thanks for elaborating on your needs and desires for a public API. I need to clarify that we first are working on a proper internal API though, but therein the goal is to make a public API for such use cases as you highlighted (pun intended). Have a great day and thanks for helping us improve.
Readwise acts like a glue b/w a dozen services, so integrating that also helps Weava reach a very good user demographic, because Readwise is a paid app, and many services with which Readwise integrates are also paid like Roam Research etc used by researchers, students, knowledge workers.
People can then sync to Notion etc too, without you having to put extra effort into that as it's all handled by Readwise.
Would this mean the API could highlight pages or how would this feature work out? I opened a request for importing highlighting, but if I could use an API that'd be clean as well. Thanks

I would love to have access to an API to extract and format all my citations through a script.

thanks for the quick response Jon! i totally understand.
Personally I want a readwise integration more than an API. I've upvoted that request here: weava.upvoty.com/b/integrations/weava-to-work-with-readwiseio

i am dropping a couple of links from Reawise's docs here for your reference:
